5 Frosty Drinks For The Hot Tub

In Episode #8, brothers Kevin and Andrew get to work on designing and building the Amphibious Hot Tub. But what is a hot tub experience without good friends and a selection of frosty drinks? Here are our five recommended frosty drinks for the hot tub.

1. Raspberry-Lime Margarita. The summer staple is always the margarita. Why not liven it up with this mix?

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup (6 ounces) tequila
  • 1/2 cup (4 ounces) orange liqueur
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen raspberries
  • 1/4 cup (2 ounces) fresh lime juice
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 4 cups ice

Just put your ingredients in a blender and you’re good to go!

2. Blueberry Lemonade. Sometimes the kids want what the adults are having. Here’s a recipe that let’s you have it both ways.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 to 1 cup lemon juice, depending on tastes
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • Water

Optional: vodka

Put the water, sugar, and half the blueberries on the stove over a low heat. When the blue in the blueberries starts to change the colour of the water, take it off the heat. Strain the blueberries and put the sugar water in the fridge to cool it down. Then mix the rest of the ingredients and you’ve got an excellent blueberry lemonade. To make your’s a little more adult, add a chilled shot of vodka to the glass.

3. Summer Punch. It’s always nice to have a pitcher of summer punch in the fridge waiting for you at the end of a long day.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cranberry juice
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup grenadine syrup
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 lime, sliced
  • 3 1/2 cups club soda

Optional: 2 parts vodka or rum to 3 parts punch

You can even make one version for the kids and another for the adults. Just put the juices and syrup in a pitcher and chill for at least an hour so the flavours mix. Right before serving, add the lemon and lime slices and club soda, then pour over ice.

4. Pink Bikini. If you prefer your drinks a little fancy, we recommend this beautiful cocktail.

Ingredients:

  • 1 (1.75-liter) bottle raspberry lemonade
  • 1 3/4 cups coconut rum
  • 1 cup amaretto liqueur

Simply combine these ingredients in a large pitcher over ice and stir well. For that extra touch, cut coconuts in half, and use them as your cups.

5. Mint Julep Ice Tea. Instead of a traditional Long Island Ice Tea, make this minty version instead.

Ingredients:

  • 8 mint leaves
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 lime, sliced
  • 1 cup bourbon
  • 3 cups cold sweetened tea

Put the leaves, lemon and lime in a pitcher and press to crush with a spoon. Stir in your bourbon and ice tea over ice, and you have a mix that’s perfect for kicking back and watching the sun set.
