It’s the little things that matter and for this project, we made a couple of DIY Tiki torches out of a canning jar, some lamp oil, a tin top from a tuna can, and an old mop. But what’s a Luau party without a spit roast? We began by outfitted our fire pit with new pavers, held together with a liberal amount of LePage PL Premium construction adhesive.

Next, we planted two upright sections of perforated steel sign post on opposite ends of the fire pit. We then skewered some pineapple and chicken onto our rotisserie spit rod, fed the rod through one of the holes on each upright and attached a Makita variable speed drill on one end to power our rotisserie. We used a plastic cable zip tie around the trigger of the drill to permit hands-free operation, adjusting the tightness of the zip tie to get the rotational speed of the rotisserie just right.
